Common Questions
Utility Shed FAQ’s
What's the difference between a utility shed and a barn-style shed?
A utility shed like the Carolina Utility uses a straightforward A-frame roof and single-slope walls, giving you an efficient, no-frills storage space. A barn-style shed (like our Carolina Barn) uses a gambrel roof to add loft storage above the main floor. If you mainly need ground-level storage without paying for loft space you won’t use, the Carolina Utility is the more cost-efficient choice.
What's the difference between the Premier and Classic Carolina Utility?
The Premier Carolina Utility is built with 16″ on-center wall studs and a double top plate for added structural strength, plus the option to upgrade to lap or board & batten siding. The Classic Carolina Utility uses 24″ on-center studs and tall 72¼” sidewalls with a 5/12 roof pitch, giving it a classic residential look at a more budget-friendly price point.
Do you deliver utility sheds to homes in the Raleigh, NC area?
Yes. Every Carolina Utility is delivered fully built and ready to use — there’s no on-site construction involved, so you’re not waiting on a build crew to finish the job on your property.
What kind of roof does the Carolina Utility have?
Both the Premier and Classic Carolina Utility feature an A-frame roof with 29-gauge metal roofing at a 5/12 pitch, which sheds water efficiently and gives the building a clean, classic profile.
What's the flooring like on a Carolina Utility shed?
The Premier Carolina Utility uses tongue-and-groove flooring for a smooth, solid surface that holds up under heavy storage loads.
Will a Carolina Utility shed meet my HOA's requirements?
We can customize either the Premier or Classic Carolina Utility to help match common HOA requirements, including color-matched paint and vinyl siding options.
What comes standard on the Classic Carolina Utility?
The Classic Carolina Utility includes an A-frame roof, 29-gauge metal roofing, a 5/12 roof pitch, and double wooden doors as standard features — a straightforward, dependable build without add-ons you don’t need.
What comes standard on the Premier Carolina Utility?
The Premier Carolina Utility includes an A-frame roof, 29-gauge metal roofing at a 5/12 pitch, two windows, and double wooden doors as standard.
Can I upgrade a utility shed with electrical or insulation?
Yes. Both the Premier and Classic Carolina Utility can be upgraded with electrical options and insulation, along with custom lofts, additional door choices, window upgrades, a work bench, and storage shelving.
Does the Carolina Utility protect against moisture and weather?
The Classic Carolina Utility includes a vapor barrier on both the roof and walls to help guard against moisture, and both versions use 29-gauge metal roofing built to hold up against North Carolina weather.
